Getting Started with Instagram for Business

I've said it before and I will say it again and again, Instagram is my absolute favorite social media platform. With only pretty pictures & captions to work with, Instagram is a refreshing break from the often overwhelming Facebook Feed. It's too easy to get lost in all the hubbub, so I run quickly to Instagram most days to get inspired and stay connected. Instagram has the highest growth rate of all social media platforms, with over 50% of users logging in every day. That's a helluva lot of opportunity to make your impact count! You can promote posts, run ads, and auto-share posts to Facebook directly from your Smartphone—it’s amazing! Now that you’ve got all these tools in your pocket, how the heck do we start using them? Here are some helpful tips on getting started with Instagram for Business!

Treat your Instagram Profile like a one-page magazine for your business.

Instagram is the most approachable & accessible marketing tool available to modern small businesses. Get the most out of your time on social media by keeping a watchful eye on what your grid looks like week-to-week. This will help you see what your audience sees and give you insight on how to plan your content moving forward. Don’t stress over making it perfect right away—just share your story. The more practice you have, the easier creating content will be. During the workday, watch out for good light, a dreamy behind-the-scenes moment, and any little details you might want to share with fans of your business. The possibilities are endless!!

Instagram Stories are your best friend.

Stories are perfect for posting casual, real-time content or photos you don't want to put in your grid. They disappear in 24 hours, but can be saved or showcased in your Highlights. Share stories automatically to Facebook by connecting your Facebook Business Page to your Instagram Business Profile for maximum story exposure.

Do it well and do it often.

Finding creative ways to share everyday content only works if you do it regularly. Post at least twice a week to keep your content fresh, relevant, and working to accomplish your big goals! When you’ve got a new post, share it in stories to get a little extra bang for your buzz. You can do this by clicking the paper airplane icon on any Instagram post!

As you venture out into the exciting world of Instagram, don’t forget that it’s supposed to be FUN. If you find yourself feeling like a slave to the grid, it’s time to take a break.

xoxo,

Bailey
